Post 1924 raises and manages charitable support for an Explorer post in McAllen — the uniforms, equipment, instruction, competition travel and service projects that turn interested teenagers into capable, disciplined young adults.

Tickets are sold in person only. Find an Explorer, or email us and we will get tickets to you — we take cash or card. The Drunken Chicken accepts printed tickets only, so there is no online purchase option. The purchase price of a meal is not tax-deductible as a charitable contribution.

Uniforms and equipment
Young people who show up in the same gear as everyone else start on equal footing. We cover the cost so no family has to choose.
Instruction and training
Classroom materials, instructors, certifications and the supplies that make hands-on learning possible.
Competition travel
Registration, transport and lodging so Explorers can compete against posts from across the state and beyond.
Community service projects
Materials and logistics for the service work Explorers deliver back to the Rio Grande Valley.
The summer intensive
A multi-day residential program of instruction, physical training and leadership development.

Awards, certifications and the records that follow an Explorer into college and career applications.
Who we are
An independent nonprofit that funds a youth program.
McAllen Explorer Post 1924 is a Texas nonprofit corporation recognised under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We exist for one purpose: to raise and responsibly manage private charitable support for a youth leadership and career exploration program serving young people aged 14 to 20.
We are not a government agency, and we do not exercise any governmental authority. The program's career focus is public service, and adult volunteers include working professionals who mentor young people in their personal capacity.
Ways to help
Not everyone gives money.
Businesses donate food for fundraisers, printing for event materials, rooms for competition travel and equipment we would otherwise buy. Individuals give time. All of it counts, and all of it is recorded and acknowledged.
For businesses
Sponsorship levels are published with what each one funds and what recognition it carries, so you can decide without a meeting. Supporters receive a written impact summary showing exactly what their contribution paid for.
